THRILLING EXPLORATION OF ICELAND’S SECOND-LARGEST GLACIER: FROM REYKJAVÍK OR SKJÓL

Hop on a snowmobile and explore the icy wilderness of Langjökull Glacier, Iceland’s second-largest glacier. This winter-only adventure combines an exhilarating glacier ride with a thrilling visit to the newly discovered Neptune Ice Cave, a natural blue ice cave discovered in October 2025 and is already considered one of the most stunning formations seen in recent years.

Join us with pickup from Reykjavík, or meet us directly at Skjól Campground, located just minutes from Gullfoss on the Golden Circle.

If you book pick-up, your day begins in Reykjavík, where we meet you and drive toward Langjökull Glacier. If you choose to meet on location, you’ll join us at Skjól Campground, only a short distance from Gullfoss Waterfall. From there, we travel together in a Super Jeep into the Icelandic Highlands toward Iceland’s second-largest glacier. On clear days, you’ll enjoy views of Eiríksjökull, Hofsjökull, and the Kerlingafjöll mountain range along the way.

When you arrive at our Langjökull Base Camp, your certified glacier guide outfits you with all the necessary snowmobiling gear (warm overalls, helmet, and balaclava) and gives a clear safety briefing. No prior experience is needed; snowmobiles are easy to handle, and your guide is there to answer any questions before you set off across Iceland’s second-largest glacier.

Your one-hour snowmobile ride takes you deep into the winter wilderness of Langjökull, climbing up to 1,450 meters above sea level! This glacier is known as The White Glacier for a reason — endless fields of bright ice stretch in every direction, creating the feeling of gliding across a glowing Arctic rooftop. The ride is fast, thrilling, and unbelievably scenic, building anticipation as you approach the season’s newly revealed Neptune Ice Cave.

Discovered in October 2025, Neptune cave is already considered one of the most spectacular natural ice caves found on Langjökull in recent years. Inside, you’ll find intensely blue crystal ice with remarkable clarity, streaked with delicate grey ash lines from centuries of volcanic eruptions — a frozen record of Iceland’s past. The cave’s curved “blue river” walls shimmer like polished quartz, making it a dream for photographers and nature lovers alike. You’ll have about 15 minutes to explore and capture the beauty of this rare natural formation.

After your cave visit, your snowmobiles are waiting outside for the return ride across the glacier back to Base Camp. From there, your guide will bring you down from Langjökull and return you to Skjól Campground – or Reykjavík, depending on your booking.
